MAKEUP ESSENTIALS FOR OILY SKIN

As you may know, I have incredibly oily skin. Throughout the past couple of years I have found a few skincare and makeup products that I think are absolute MUST-HAVES if you have oily skin.

Mattifying Lotions: There are a lot of skincare products that are great for oily skin. However, I am going to focus on the final step of my skincare routine: moisturizers. I have found three moisturizers that I absolutely love wearing under makeup and are particularly good for oily skin. The MOST mattifying moisturizer I have ever tried is the Murad Oil Control Mattifier. This product is amazing if you have really oily skin. Two other moisturizers that I really enjoy applying prior to my makeup are the Epionce Renewal Lite Facial Lotion and the Tatcha Balanced Pore Perfecting Water Gel.

Mattifying Primers: I personally don’t like applying a mattifying primer by itself but I have found that I really enjoy mixing mattifying primers with pore minimizing primers. My favorite mattifying primer is the MAC Prep + Prime Skin Refined Treatment Soin.  I particularly enjoy this primer combined with the Benefit Porefessional (a combination that Casey Holmes once recommended).

Matte Foundation: I am happy to report that I have two foundations that I absolutely love for my oily skin. Both of these foundations provide great coverage, have a beautiful finish, and hold up very well throughout the day. They are the Estee Lauder Double Wear and the Lancome Teint Idole Stick Foundation. Yall know that I love my high-end makeup but if you are looking for a drugstore alternative, my two favorites are the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation and Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation.

Setting Powder: I have tried so many setting powders but the one that is the absolute best for controlling my oil is the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. This powder prolongs the wear of your makeup and controls your oils throughout the day. It is an incredible product!

Blotting Papers: I own a ton of powder compacts but I find that I never use them to touch-up throughout the day. When my skin gets oily, I would much rather use blotting paper to remove the oil rather than apply more product on top of the oil. The best blotting paper that I have found so far are the Shisheido Pureness Oil-Control Blotting Papers. They are a little pricey but they are coated with a small amount of translucent powder that they apply onto your face so it is like blotting paper and powder combined. Also, I can usually find these at Marshall’s or other discount stores.

Setting Spray: If you have oily skin, I highly recommend that you set your makeup with a setting spray. My two favorites are the Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray  (the oil control version) and the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray.

What are your favorite makeup products for oily skin? I would love to try some of your recommendations!!

I have the UD Stay All Night Spray, it’s great! I want to try the Oil Control Spray too. I personally just wear less face makeup during the summer months though, just loads and loads of SPF!
