2015 really was the year of makeup and beauty for me. I have always had a love for make up, but in the past few years I have gotten really into it. I watch beauty videos on YouTube DAILY (as I get ready for work or at night with a glass of wine to unwind).

This year, I want to share some of the YouTubers that I discovered throughout the year. I am subscribed to a ton of beauty channels but these are the YouTubers that I will watch EVERY video that they post. Even if it is something that I know I will never use (“How to get super dewy skin” etc)

Jaclyn Hill (2.6M subscribers)– I love when a truly good person (as far as I can tell) experiences crazy success. She seems like a genuinely fun, goofy, and down to earth person. If you enjoy her personality I would also recommend checking out her Snapchat as she posts a lot of entertaining stuff on there.
Wayne Goss (2.3M subscribers) – he is just so sexy! I also love that his videos are super concise. Sometimes you don’t care to hear someone chat on and on about everything that comes to their mind. He is clearly talented and knows what he is talking about.
Kathleen Lights (1.6M subscribers)- I have watched her videos for a long time now and I have loved seeing how much she has blown up this year (Colourpop & Ofra collaborations, etc.). Her personality is so sweet and I love how open she has been with her struggle with anxiety – something that I also suffer from.
Casey Holmes (1M subscribers) – Not only does she have a super sweet personality, she is one of the few YouTubers with oily skin! Basically, if she recommends a product in a video – I purchase it within the same day.
Marnie Goldberg (65K subscribers) – She is probably the most honest and real YouTuber that I have watched. This is probably partially due to her age – she is a mother of 2 highschoolers. I can’t explain why exactly but I am absolutely fascinated by watching her Vlogs with her family. She also gives super honest opinions on makeup and beauty products!
Pretty Shiny Sparkly (48K subscribers) – I really appreciate the fact that she has a pretty grueling job – she is in the medical field and I am pretty sure that she is an anesthesiologist and sometimes has to work insane hours. Her Vlogs give me motivation that I can do my full-time job and continue to make time for blogging and Instagram. I also love that her channel is about more than just beauty products – she is interested in technology (she does a great in-depth review of the Apple watch) and Louis Vuitton everything. I hate to talk bad about anyone – but there is another YouTuber with a massive LV collection and hearing her talk about it is like nails on a chalkboard for me. For some reason, when Kristina from Pretty Shiny Sparkly talks about her LV collection it is different. She hunts down discontinued items and knows everything about them and you can tell that she genuinely appreciates them. It’s not just an obnoxious video about “look at the new LV bag I bought for myself, isn’t it pretty?”. Her blog is also gorgeous – one of the more aesthetically pleasing blogs I have come across!
Mallory Ervin (5K subscribers) – OMG this girl is my favorite – if you only check out one person from this post – check her out!  I first discovered/fell in love with her when she was on the Amazing Race with her dad. Then I saw her do a video with Alexandrea Garza and I was so excited to hear that she was starting her own beauty channel. This is hands down my favorite channel to watch. She is super talented and really loves makeup. Her hilarious personality makes me crack up in every single video. She is really good about interacting with her followers on Instagram as well.
Courtney Kerr (4K subscribers) – Honestly, I discovered her account yesterday and she only has 3 videos so maybe she shouldn’t make this list. However, I fell in love with her sassiness on Most Eligible Dallas and Courtney Loves Dallas. I’ve followed her beauty blog for a long time so I was super excited to see that she had started a YouTube channel. She only has 3 videos but 2 of them have already been added to my Favorites Folder on YouTube. Her tutorial on applying false eyelashes is incredibly helpful – go check it out!
LisaJMakeup – Last but not least, my good friend Lisa! We met when she did my makeup for my wedding and have been friends ever since. Not only is she an incredible makeup artist and a former MAC trainer, she is a hard working mom of 2. I find that her channel is easy to connect with – for example, she doesn’t do monthly favorites because she isn’t able to spend an insane amount of money on products and doesn’t want to have to “come up” with products that she doesn’t really love. She does favorites videos when she finds enough products that she is IN LOVE with. I love that! So REAL. Her past experience as a former MAC trainer is also really helpful – she will be able to explain to you how to apply a product, what it is supposed to do for you etc. She even has a video about how the color wheel that we all remember from school ties in to makeup.
There are a lot of other YouTubers that I love but these are my most favorites. Comment below if you have any YouTubers that you think I need to check out!

Does anyone else open wayyy too many mascaras at the same time?! It’s like I have an addiction. These are all of the mascaras that I currently have open:

Also, do y’all abide by the “3 month rule”?? (Throwing away your open mascara after 3 months). I will admit that I do not. I tend to not keep track and then throw out the mascara whenever it seems like it is drying out and not applying as well. However, I just found out that you can put eye drops in your dried out mascara to make it last longer. Do y’all think that is ok to do? I HATE throwing away unused makeup!

As soon as I saw pictures of this makeup storage created by Trendmood1 and Zahra Beauty I knew I had to have it. I was hoping it would work well with my Muji drawers – and it did!! This product costs $25 and is Limited Edition so go pick one up before it sells out!

If you have Muji Drawers you especially need this – it fits perfectly on top of my Muji Drawers!

You can tell that this product was designed by a fellow makeup junkie because she really thought about everything. I especially love the fact that all 3 pieces will come apart and you can use them separately.

There are so many different ways you can use each piece – just look on Instagram for ideas. I love that people are using the section designed for compacts to store lipsticks. You can really fit a ton of products in this organizer.

Did you guys pick up this product?? What do you think? Also, let me know if you’d like to see a separate post about my makeup organization.

I had heard this product raved about by a few of my friends as well as by fellow beauty bloggers online. (It gets a full 5 stars on Sephora which I rarely see). I was looking around the Clinique section of Sephora for other skincare products and thought I would pick this up and try it out.

You apply this product onto your skin and massage all over your makeup, and then rinse away with water. I was impressed at how well that this removed my full face of makeup, including my eye makeup. I also loved the feeling afterwards – my skin actually felt a little moisturized and definitely not dried out at all. For me personally, this is great because I use a “powerful” anti-acne cleanser that can really dry out my skin. Sometimes, makeup remover wipes followed by my cleanser can leave my skin feeling really dry. This made my skin feel amazing and the whole “experience” just felt very luxurious.

The only con for me is that this product costs $29 for 3.8 oz and it feels exactly like coconut oil. I’ve never used coconut oil to remove my makeup – but I have a feeling that I could get a similar result using the coconut oil in my pantry. I have used coconut oil on my body though and it leaves an oily residue – which this product does not. So, on second thought – I don’t think you could use coconut oil instead of this product!!

Have any of you tried this product? What do you think??

Welcome back to Part 2 of my holiday party post. I already posted about my outfit and accessories for my company’s Great Gatsby themed holiday party. This post will be all about the makeup that I wore. I think the makeup that I used would be perfect for any holiday party. I hope you enjoy!

PRIMER: The Porefessional Face Primer by Benefit Cosmetics + MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Skin Refined Zone. I have seriously LOVED this combination after Casey Holmes raved about it on YouTube. This combination smooths out your skin, reduces your pores, and keeps your skin matte. What more could you want?!

FOUNDATION: I wanted my skin to look absolutely flawless so I used my all-time favorite foundation – Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup. For additional coverage, I used IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Correcting Cream. I think you are supposed to use this under your foundation to minimize redness, but I actually use it over my foundation for areas that I need more coverage.

SETTING POWDER: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

CONCEALER: I took a break from my beloved Urban Decay Naked Concealer and went back to the heavy duty MAC Pro Longwear Concealer. I really like this concealer for special events, it is very full coverage. To set my concealer, I used the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder. I experienced a little bit of “whiteness” with flash photography so I would test this product out before you use it for a special event.

BLUSH: I skipped bronzer for this look – which I NEVER do. I wanted my cheeks to really pop and look flushed so I did not use any bronzer and instead used my Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Cola Pop. This blush is perfect for giving you those rosy cheeks.

HIGHLIGHTER: MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle. When I took flash photography with this product on it really POPPED. Some of you may like that – but for me I’m not a fan. My forehead tends to get oily so if my highlighter is too intense it just makes my entire face look oily, not glowing. For future special events, I will either not wear highlighter or wear one of my more natural looking ones (like my Charlotte Tilbury highlighter).

EYE PRODUCTS: The MAC Prep + Prime 24-Hour Extend Eye Base is the best eye primer I have ever used in terms of making your eyeshadow last forever. This is my go-to primer for any special occasion. I went for a smokey eye, so I used the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero (black). This eyeliner is one of my favorite formulas and this color is perfect for when you want a dramatic eye look. I then used one of my favorite mascaras – the Maybelline Lash Sensational to prep my eyes for my fake eyelashes. My fake eyelashes, the Demi Wispies by Adrell aren’t pictured here because let’s be real, it’s hard to get a good picture of eyelashes without it looking like a dead spider.

EYESHADOW: Another confession, I do not know how to create a smokey eye. I knew I wanted to use the color Satin Taupe by MAC because I thought it would look really good with all of the silver in my accessories. So, I used MAC All That Glitters on in the inner and center parts of my lid, MAC Satin Taupe on the outer part of my lid and the erase, and then I used the Hot Fudge shade of the Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar palette on the outer V area to darken every thing up. I used Corrupt by Makeup Geek over my eyeliner to smoke everything out.

LIPSTICK: This lip color was the star to the show! I ALWAYS wear very neutral lip colors so this was definitely out of my comfort zone but it really completed my look. It is Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella and I actually got it for free from Sephora as part of my Sephora birthday present. I found the formula to be really long wearing and creamy and the color was perfect!

I don’t know why but I seem to always forget to photograph my setting spray. I sprayed the crap out of my face with my Skindinavia Setting Spray to make sure it lasted all night!

If you decide to use any of the products from this look for your holiday party (or whatever you want to wear them) – be sure to tag me in them so I can see!! @katelovesmakeup1

I have been so excited for Too Faced to release their Love Flush Blush Wardrobe. I have heard so many great things about the Love Flush blushes but I could never decide which color I wanted! I tried to swatch them all at Sephora and Ulta but swatching the sample blushes never works for me. They are always so dried out and I can never really tell if they are going to be good or not. I had decided I was going to buy the color Baby Love until I saw that Too Faced was going to release this blush palette with all of the colors.

My first thought when I saw the photo on @trendmood1 was that I felt bad for people who had bought multiple of the individual blushes. I own so many blushes and I doubt I will ever be able to completely use one up so I would much rather have this palette than a few of the full-sized blushes.

However, my first impression when I received the palette was that the individual blushes are REALLY small (0.42 oz total for 6 shadows).  I use a Real Techniques Blush Brush to apply blush and I had to squeeze the brush a little to get it to fit into the color I wanted. The colors are spaced out enough though so that you don’t end up mixing the blushes together.

I was worried this palette was also going to be too long to easily store. It’s about 2 inches longer than most of my eyeshadow palettes so it actually isn’t too bad.

I wore Baby Love last night and it is GORGEOUS! I have a feeling this will be my favorite of the palette but I can’t wait to try the rest. This palette costs $36 and is worth $52 so it is definitely a great deal. I would highly recommend picking this up!

Ok, so I will admit that I have a huge obsession with buying eyeshadow palettes. What inevitably ends up happening is that I use my newest palette over and over until I buy another palette – and then I use that one over and over. I end up not using my old palettes AT ALL. So, a few weeks ago I started “forcing” myself to use each of my eyeshadow palettes for a week at a time (and I have been trying to use different eyeshadow combinations each day). This has actually been super fun – I’ve rediscovered old loves as well as eyeshadows that I’ve had for forever and never even tried! This week’s palette has been my Z Palette full of MAC and Makeup Geek eyeshadows!

PS – Most of you may not know this, but I started an Instagram makeup account (@katelovesmakeup1) long before I started this blog. I have been using this blog for topics that were way too long to fit into an Instagram post. However, since Instagram has implemented some changes I am HATING (like my posts only showing up for some of my “followers”) I am going to be moving more of my content to my blog. So, you may see shorter blog posts like this one – posted on a more frequent basis.
